Sustainable buildings and homes – reducing environmental impacts
The carbon footprint and energy consumption of our property portfolio are key factors in our sustainability work. Improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions are central both in the maintenance of our properties and in new construction and renovation projects.
We are progressing towards our goal of achieving carbon-neutral energy use by 2030: the carbon footprint of Lumo homes has decreased by 60% since 2019.
We want to provide comfortable and safe homes and contribute to the long-term development of urban environments. In maintaining and developing our properties, we focus on reducing energy consumption, water consumption and climate impacts, improving energy efficiency, and increasing the recycling of household waste.

We are committed to continuously improving energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is a key part of our sustainability programme. We have participated in the Finnish real estate sector’s energy efficiency agreement (VAETS) for three consecutive terms.
We achieved the energy savings target for the previous agreement period ahead of schedule in 2024. In 2025, we committed to the new agreement period for 2026–2035 and continue our systematic work to reduce energy consumption.
