  • The programme is based on a materiality assessment of sustainability.
  • Our work is structured around four focus areas and six associated targets and metrics.

Explore the focus areas of our sustainability programme

Our sustainability programme brings together our key sustainability themes and the related objectives. It guides our work across environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and good governance.

The programme structures our sustainability efforts into a clear and measurable framework and supports the implementation of our updated strategy. The focus areas illustrate the key impacts of our business and highlight the most important areas for development.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Our operations support selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are part of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. We have identified the goals that are most relevant to our business and promote them through our sustainability work.

SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities

Directly linked to our core business: we create better urban living.

Our work contributes to targets related to resident satisfaction, safety, water consumption and waste recycling.

SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth

Supports our ambition for sustainable growth, continuous learning and development.

Helps build a safe, inclusive and engaged workplace.

SDG 13 – Climate action

Reflects our long-term commitment to reducing emissions and achieving carbon-neutral energy use.

Climate responsibility is a key driver of development in the real estate sector.

SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy

Strongly aligned with our efforts to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.

We continuously develop solutions and practices that optimize energy use and minimize environmental impact across our properties.

Sustainability governance

Our sustainability work is guided by our strategy, values, operating principles, and our sustainability programme.

Key figures related to the sustainability programme are also reported in interim and half-year reviews. We publish an annual sustainability report.

Board and CEO

The Company’s Board of Directors sets the strategic direction and makes decisions related to sustainability. The CEO is responsible for implementing the Board’s guidelines and, with the support of the Management Team, ensures that sustainability is integrated into our business operations.

Management Team and Sustainability Manager

At the Management Team level, sustainability matters fall under the responsibility of the Executive Vice President, People, Brand and Sustainability. The Management Team serves as the steering group for sustainability.

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for the company’s sustainability matters and their development, for sustainability reporting, and acts as an expert supporting the company’s business units. The Sustainability Manager reports directly to the Executive Vice President, People, Brand and Sustainability.

Management Team members ensure that actions within their areas of responsibility support the implementation of the sustainability programme. Sustainability objectives are integrated as a core part of business unit plans and targets.

The Management Team monitors progress against the sustainability programme’s objectives through quarterly sustainability reports.

Stakeholder engagement

Our stakeholder engagement is guided by our strategy, values, business principles, and sustainability programme. We aim for open and continuous dialogue with our stakeholders. We regularly map stakeholders’ views and expectations. Our approach to stakeholder engagement varies by stakeholder group.

Key stakeholders:

Lumo residents

To understand residents’ expectations and needs regarding sustainability and to promote responsible living by providing clear and up-to-date information.

Employees

To leverage our employees’ expertise in sustainability and ensure that sustainability themes are embedded in our business practices.

Investors and financiers

To ensure that investors and financiers understand our sustainability objectives and guidelines, and their impact on our operations.

Cooperation partners

To ensure that partners understand our sustainability goals and their role in achieving them, and to gather insights from partners that can help improve our activities.

Public authorities and non-governmental organisations

To understand the impacts of sustainability issues and promote attention to the themes that are material to Lumo. Collaboration with authorities is mainly initiated by the authorities themselves.

Industry memberships and networks

We are members of several industry and responsible business organisations and actively participate in their activities. This enables the adoption of best practices, collaboration, and the broader promotion of sustainability.

Whistleblowing

Our stakeholders have access to a whistleblowing procedure, which aims to help mitigate potential risks to the Company. The whistleblowing procedure serves as an early warning system, through which we encourage stakeholders to report any conduct that may violate legislation or other requirements, our values, or our business principles.
