Lumo’s annual grant application period is open from 11 August to 13 September 2026. Lumo grants are available to 12 to 20-year-old children and young people who need financial support for their hobbies.
Grants are awarded for both individual and team sports and other hobbies. A grant jury consisting of Lumo employees selects 25 grant recipients. Lumo’s Executive Management Team reviews the jury’s proposals and approves the final selections. A total of €10,000 in grants will be awarded.
“Lumo residents are given priority in the selection, but what applicants say in their applications also matters. It is worth clearly stating in the application what the grant money would be used for,” says Marko Vaahtera, an experienced representative of the grant jury.
Grants have been awarded for a wide range of hobbies since 2012. In 2025, Lumo supported children and young people in activities such as athletics, football, acrobatics, playing the flute, dance and theatre arts.
“Hobbies bring a great deal of joy to everyday life – at their best, to the whole family, for example through performances or competitions. It is wonderful to be able to support young people’s hobbies by awarding grants!” says Minna Siikala, the newest representative of the grant jury.
