After renewing its strategy, Kojamo plc is changing its name. The company’s new name will be Lumo Homes plc. With the new strategy, Lumo Homes seeks growth by boosting the vitality of cities and developing an apartment portfolio that meets people’s different needs.
"Vibrant cities and workforce mobility play a key role in Finland’s search for growth. Urbanisation is changing the needs and expectations of housing. “For an increasing number of Finns, this means renting rather than owning,” says Lumo CEO Reima Rytsölä.
Lumo has approximately 40,000 rental homes in growth centres around Finland. The number of Lumo rental homes will increase by nearly 4,800 apartments on 1 April 2026 when an acquisition with Varma is completed. Lumo uses its comprehensive housing offering to promote the vitality of cities and the development of urban living. The aim is to make urban living easy and flexible, which is not often possible with owner-occupied housing.
"For Lumo, properties are not just individual rentals but part of a broader urban structure and service network. We have a high-quality range of apartments with a focus on central locations, which enables us to promote the attractiveness of cities and people’s mobility. When life situations change, residents can move to a new home or city quickly, if necessary," Rytsölä explains.
New name promotes resident-oriented mindset
In accordance with the decision of the Annual General Meeting, the company’s business name will be Lumo Homes plc.
"Lumo is a well-known and respected housing brand, which is why it is natural to operate under the Lumo name in the future. A strong brand further accelerates the implementation of our customer-centric strategy and unified internal work culture," says Katri Viippola, Executive Vice President, People, Brand and Sustainability.
"The need for change stems from our customers, and we want to be closer to their everyday lives. With one strong brand, we will continue the development of rental housing as an attractive, reliable and sustainable choice for the future," says Viippola.
The visual identity of the Lumo brand will also be upgraded. The new look is already in use on the yritys.lumo.fi website and will be expanded to all channels this year.
The new name will take effect on Friday 13 March. The change will not require any measures from residents or owners. The new name will be automatically updated for the shares and on trading platforms on Monday 16 March (estimated).
